Yard Waste

Grass clippings, leaves and other yard waste should be placed in brown paper yard waste bags, which are available at discount, drug and hardware stores.

Yard waste also can be placed in specially marked garbage cans. The bags and cans should not weigh more than 40 pounds when fully loaded. The yard waste will be recycled. Yard waste in plastic bags should be placed in the blue trash container. Yard debris in plastic bags will not be recycled but will be placed in a landfill.

Cut small branches to no more than 4 feet in length and bundle them with string. Place them at curbside alongside the yard waste bags and cans. Do not place yard waste in the green recycling containers.

Recycling Do's and Don'ts

Combine the following five core items in your curbside recycling container. Do not bag them. No other items should be placed in your recycling. And when in doubt, throw it out.

  1. CANS: Empty and rinse.
  2. CARTONS: Empty and rinse. Replace the cap -- it’s too small to be recycled by itself!
  3. GLASS: Empty and rinse.
  4. PAPER & BOXES: Flatten cardboard items, like cereal boxes, to save space.
  5. PLASTIC BOTTLES & JUGS: Empty and rinse. Replace the cap.2019 Recycling Information Pictures and Descriptions
