Shifts
The Patrol Division of the Berea Police department is comprised of 4 five man shifts. These shifts are directed by a shift Sergeant and operate under a seniority system.
The four shifts work semi-permanent 12 hours work days and have the opportunity to rotate between days and nights at the start of every year.
Responsibility
The Patrol Division is responsible for traffic enforcement, initial incident reporting, reactionary complaint enforcement, preventative enforcement, parking enforcement, and community policing. Examples of duties performed on a given day are domestic disturbance response and intervention, arrest warrant service, traffic regulation monitoring, motor vehicle accident response, theft and violence incident reporting, vehicle lock out service, prisoner care, and community outreach.
